A salad a day!
In the summer of 2018, I went down to one of the areas, that National Geographic magazine has published as one of the Blue Zones (because these global areas have residences that live to be 100 years old without getting sick). So, I learned several things you can do to help yourself not get cancer to begin with and to prevent it from coming back. Eating a healthy diet that includes fresh vegetables and fruit in the colors of the rainbow daily is extremely important. I feel like doctors should write you a prescription for a salad a day. If you eat out, like a lot of us do use that as an opportunity to order a salad. Be careful with dressings. Vinegar and Olive oil are best, and the miracle of making this choice is that you will feel full and satisfied after making this choice. Avoid processed foods and dressing.
Yesterday I ate a Kale winter salad at Magnolia Table in Waco, Texas. I know they are known for their yummy desserts and delicious rolls with flavored butter. But I’ve done something that I should have done a long time ago. When I eat out, I order a salad and skip the white rolls. I’m not sure why some of us wait until we are sick to try to live a healthy lifestyle, but around 5 years ago I said, here it goes. I’ve tried to make sure that I eat a hearty salad once a day and I hope I will have that opportunity for the next 30 or more years!
